Photos: Colonel Tom Parker's Birthday on the Set of the '68 Special
On June 26, 1968, Elvis, cast and crew enjoy a party in honor of his manager Colonel Tom Parker's birthday. It 'snows' as nod to Colonel's longstanding tongue-in-cheek fraternal order known as the Snowmen's League of America. Elvis performs special new comedic lyrics to the song It Hurts Me, giving a send-up to Colonel and his finagling with the producers. Executive producer Bob Finkel gives Colonel a portrait of himself as Napoleon.
It Hurts Me
Parody lyrics by the '68 special's writer's Chris Beard and Allan Blye
It hurts me
to see the budget climb up to the sky.
It hurts me
when Finkel gives me trouble.
When I see all my money go
just for one g***damned ol' tv show,
it hurts me
the way that Finkel spends my dough.
The whole town is talkin',
they're callin' me a fool
for listenin' to binder's same old lies.
Finkel calls me, says I've got no choice
then hangs up the phone in that damned Rolls Royce.
It hurts me
when my tears start to flow.
They promised me sure
if I would give in
that I would - that I would
never go wrong, but tell me the truth
is it too much to ask
for one lousy, tired ol'

This is an excellent release no fan should be without it.
The 'parade' footage is good to see as it puts you in the right context with color and b&w footage. The interviews of Elvis' Parents are well worth hearing too. The afternoon show footage is wonderful and electrifying : Here is Elvis in his prime rocking and rolling in front of 11.000 people. Highly recommended.
|We love Elvis Presley !!!!!!!! : So ... Stop, look and listen baby that's our philosophy ... First thing in the morning, last thing at night ... look, stare everywhere and see everything inside ... Stop, look and listen!|
